In the groove

Performers from the University of Otago Indian Students’ Association take the stage at the College of Education auditorium building, for the association’s annual cultural night.

Association vice-president Rutu Hebbal said the night featured cultural performances from across India and were all themed around an Indian television programme, known as Dosti — an Indian version of 1990s American sitcom Friends.

There were seven different groups with 90 performers performing traditional dances including a Gujarati dance, a Punjabi bhangra and a traditional bharatanatyam.
