"The Green Party is delighted to be returning to Dunedin for our AGM conference this year," party national convener Wiremu Winitana said.
"The Green Party receives a lot of support from Dunedin in terms of party votes and we're strong in local government there, too."
The Greens' return to Dunedin follows on from Labour holding its annual conference in the town hall in November.
The Greens will meet at the University of Otago in the first week of August.
Greens Deep South co-convener Brian Dixon was "really pleased" the conference was returning to Dunedin for the first time since 2009.
"There will be quite a bit of work involved for both the Dunedin branch and the province, but it will be a good event to get people involved and engaged in," he said.
Mr Dixon expected Green-aligned Dunedin city councillors Aaron Hawkins and Marie Laufiso would be prominently involved in the conference.
Campus Greens spokesman William Dreyer said the branch was in the early stages of planning for the event, but there was "a lot in the works".
