Stunning weather greeted more than 2000 people who thronged to the Otago Taieri A&P Society’s annual show on Saturday.

The sun beat down on the 2200 visitors to the show as temperatures at the showgrounds touched 20degC, tempered only by a slight breeze blowing from the southeast.

Otago Taieri A&P Society secretary Cate Edgeler said the weather and turnout was a dream result for the annual show.

Almost 3000 people had taken part when competitors, stallholders and volunteers were factored in, she said.

"It was a magnificent day," she said.

"We were so lucky with the weather. It was just stunning.

"Everyone’s had a great day. There’s smiling faces everywhere and a few pink faces."

Those at the show were treated to a wide array of attractions with mini diggers and trucks for the children, and science and magic on display.

Tucked away in a corner of the show was a petting corner which kept smiles on young children’s faces while the big kids were entertained by axemen and adrenaline rides.

Mrs Edgeler said the turnout was great and had "exceeded expectations".

"It was such a perfect day," she said.

"I couldn’t ask for more."
