Bank co-ordinator Michelle Kerr said 50 volunteers collected about 300 cartons of food in the annual drive on December 8.
''It was fantastic - absolutely brilliant - our community was marvellous.''
About 80% of the donations were cans of food, while the rest included food such as cereal, rice and pasta.
A carton held 66 cans of food, Mrs Kerr said.
The volunteers collected four more cartons of food than last year.
They were on the road for nearly four hours, collecting food from Abbotsford, Allanton, Brighton, Fairfield, Green Island, Mosgiel, Outram and Waldronville.
''We have a very generous community - they are fabulous.''
Mrs Kerr said she wanted to thank everybody involved with the drive. She is confident the collection will be held again next year.
''Absolutely - we can't function without it.''
