The names suggested for an albatross chick could ruffle some feathers.
Department of Conservation spokeswoman Andrea Crawford said more than 1100 entries had been suggested in a competition to name the Northern royal albatross chick, which hatched at Taiaroa Head on Otago Peninsula in January.
Names suggested so far include Russell M'Feathers, Jessica Albatross, Sir Soar-A-Lot, Albie McFlewgull, Feathers McChicken, Albus Dumbledore, Mellowpuff, Pavlova and Jellybean.
A woman suggested Jellybean after her husband discovered an old lolly in his shirt pocket.
"It reminded him of the chick - white, fluffy and inedible,'' the entry form said.
Entries to suggest a name close on May 27.
The Pukekura Co-management Trust would choose five names and put them out to public vote.
The winning name would be announced on a peninsula webcam on June 21.
