Downer construction staff undertake minor maintenance work on the recently opened Lookout Point Bridge yesterday.

New Zealand Transport Agency projects team manager Simon Underwood said the work included sealing rivet heads and completing concreting work on some of the pier.

A boom lifter was parked above State Highway 1 which reduced the bridge to one lane while the pier work was completed, Mr Underwood said.

Screen work was done via a cage over the bridge to minimise traffic disruption, he said.

The work was due to be completed last night.
