Fashion finery was on show in Dunedin last night, when hundreds of residents and visitors donned their glad rags for the iD Dunedin Fashion Show at the Dunedin Railway Station.

A mild evening allowed fashion followers to flaunt their favourite garments. Dunedin label NOM*d was the first of 14 commercial collections showing the latest looks for winter.

Models from Shanghai and New Zealand were accompanied by Royal New Zealand Ballet dancers Katherine Grange and Hayley Donnison during Dunedin designer Tamsin Cooper's collection.

They mixed pirouettes into their walks while Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra assistant concertmaster Miranda Adams, formerly of Dunedin, played the violin.

Charmaine Reveley, of Dunedin, delighted with her signature sparkle. She was followed by Dunedin labels Moodie Tuesday and UNDONE, Central Otago label Jane Sutherland and a DADA Vintage collection.

Five School of Design, Otago Polytechnic graduates, including iD International Emerging Designer Awards winner Rakel Blom and fellow awards entrant Samuel Ralph, displayed their creative talent.

Tansy Morris' regal gowns proved crowd pleasers, while other highlights included collections by Dunedin labels Company of Strangers, Carlson and Mild Red, iD guest and Auckland designer Yvonne Bennetti, and clothes from DEVa'L, MisteR and Storm.

A 33-hat collection by British milliner and iD guest Stephen Jones wowed the audience.

By 10.30pm seats were empty, goodie bags raided and high heels kicked off for another year.
