Last year, the 16-year-old St Hilda's Collegiate School pupil won a Royal Society of New Zealand international travel prize at the Genesis Energy Realise the Dream Awards, which was a trip to Melbourne and an Antarctic sightseeing flight to Commonwealth Bay and McMurdo Sound.
She is one of six pupils selected to attend the Youth Australia New Zealand Association for the Advancement of Science (Anzaas) event in Hobart, Australia, in July.
Over five days, she will be immersed in science activities and lectures organised in conjunction with the Institute of Marine and Antarctic Studies and the University of Tasmania.
She will also participate in field trips to Strathgordon - a remote part of Tasmania - to learn about geology, rainforests and hydro power generation.
Anne-Sophie was selected by the Royal Society of New Zealand to attend the event, where she will be joined by 24 secondary school pupils from around Australia.
Her excellent academic results and a passion for science resulted in her being selected over 200 other applicants.
Anne-Sophie said the trip would take her out of her comfort zone and she was looking forward to working with like-minded pupils in science at a higher level.
She has ambitions of becoming a veterinarian or a research biologist, and hoped this trip would give her a better idea of which career path to follow.
