Traffic backs up on the Northern Motorway at the scene of a fatal crash north of Dunedin yesterday morning.
Acting Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond, of Dunedin, said the person who died was the only occupant of the vehicle that crashed down the bank.

The road was closed and detours were in place until about noon, when the road was reopened to heavy traffic.
