False alarm clears Dunedin Airport

A false alarm cleared the Dunedin Airport of staff and airline passengers this morning.

A Fire Service spokesman said a sprinkler automatic alarm had activated just before 9am.

"I don't think there's much in it at all. They didn't find anything, but there's no real reason for it.

"If would have to be put down to a false alarm.''

Airport marketing and communications manager Megan Crawford said people were allowed back in after about 15 minutes.

Two flights were on the tarmac at the time, but there were no major delays.
