The Stuart St structure has been unoccupied since May last year, when the Fortune Board of Trustees closed the theatre because it was no longer financially viable.
Later in the year Dunedin City Council property services group manager David Bainbridge said the public would need to be consulted before any action was taken as to it future.
He had expected this would happen this year, but this week he said the council now hoped to have the ‘‘next steps confirmed’’ some time in 2020.
‘‘There are currently no plans for the building.
‘‘We’re continuing to monitor the condition of the building and there has been some minor maintenance carried out such as repairs to a broken window, tidying garden plots and gutter cleaning.’’
