The Easter Bunny stood resolute despite the roar of 140 motorcycles across Dunedin yesterday.

Tina Mercer, of Dunedin, wore an Easter Bunny outfit over her leathers as she travelled on a Yamaha FJR1300 in the Bronz Otago Motorcycle Club annual Easter egg run.

She endured the heat of the outfits to collect Easter eggs ''for the kids''.

More than 180 riders travelled on machines ranging from scooters to supersport touring motorcycles, collecting food to give to the Salvation Army.

Club president Phil Scorringe said the riders in the pack, who travelled from the Carey's Bay Historic Hotel to the Octagon, were mostly from Dunedin but some came from Timaru and Invercargill.

The community benefited from 37th annual egg run, as did the club.

''It's a warm fuzzy thing for us - it's great.''
