A driver has moderate injuries after their car collided with a truck on the Southern Motorway this afternoon.
The crash occurred near the Green Island off-ramp at 3.24pm, involving the two vehicles on the northbound lane headed towards Dunedin.
The truck hit the car on the driver’s side door.
The truck driver, along with a witness, were seen talking to emergency crews at the scene.
The motorway has been closed at Burnside and traffic was being diverted to Kaikorai Valley.
A St John spokeswoman said one patient has been transported to Dunedin Hospital in a moderate condition and staff left the scene about 4.10pm.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said crews assisted ambulance.
A police spokeswoman said they were not aware of any significant injuries at this stage.
