Dreary weather to continue for Dunedin

This week was pretty dreary, we got into the late teens but nothing was too extreme. The week before, however, was much more eventful. And, because I was in Queenstown, I was in the thick of it.

When I got up at around 6am on Tuesday there was a bit of mist about Walter Peak and a little bit of wind, but nothing too significant.

That day we went gold panning and stuff and then when we got back at about 4pm,  I noticed that everything was clagging in, the cloud that had been creeping across the mountains all day was now pouring in and filling the Wakatipu Basin.

By 5pm, It was starting to envelop Kelvin Peninsula and the camp we were staying in and by 6pm it was absolutely pouring with rain. I went to bed later that night after being cruelly refused the prospect of playing spotlight in the rain, tears dripping down my pillow.

The next morning was picturesque, to say the least. Only the top of Kelvin Peninsula got snow but the other side of the lake it was down into the very highest residential area. Skyline was absolutely caked and so was Walter Peak and Ben Lomond. It was quite pretty on the conifers lining the hillsides.

Then we went for a walk up the Tobin Track in Arrowtown. The snow was quite deep and I got to throw snowballs at my teacher. I also slammed a snowball over the head of someone I... dislike immensely. There was also a small amount of snow in Arrowtown.

Now, back to Mosgiel. On that same Tuesday night, it began to rain here, in Mosgiel and yes, it bucketed down. I recorded about 32mm in 6 hours and it dropped down to 1 or 2degC.

Forecast:
This week will carry on with the same dreary stuff we're getting used to. A minor front will sweep through today, maybe bringing a couple showers. Another comes through on Tuesday accompanied by a few showers. The rest of the week is quite moderate with mostly cloudy skies and light winds
