Dunedin travel and tourism students may soon be rubbing shoulders with Donald Duck and his Disney cronies in the United States.
About 17 Sir George Seymour students from Dunedin and some from Christchurch will be interviewed in Dunedin today by recruiters from Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.
They had a recruitment presentation at the University of Otago campus in Dunedin yesterday.
For the past few years, Disney Parks recruiters have visited New Zealand to offer graduating travel and tourism students jobs at various resorts including Walt Disney World in Florida and Disneyland Park in California.
Sir George Seymour Dunedin campus manager Sharon Bratton said it was a fantastic opportunity for graduates to receive top-level training and work experience from a respected global organisation.
At the same time, recruits could live and work in the US with other young travel and tourism graduates from all around the world, she said.
''Every year, we get students who really want to go. It's a great opportunity; they get so much personal growth over that year they're away.''
Interested students had to apply online before representatives visited New Zealand each year.
The students, who had to graduate before arriving in the US, underwent a presentation seminar before their individual interviews.
Mrs Bratton said being employed by Disney was a major boost on any young graduate's CV.
''It's really good for any future employment.''
Graduates of the Dunedin course had been chosen by Disney recruiters in the past couple of years, she said.
