A decision on the future of Lovelock Ave, which runs through the Dunedin Botanic Garden from Opoho, is not expected until late next month.
A long-debated plan to realign the road was the subject of a three-day resource consent hearing before commissioners Roger Tasker and Allan Cubitt, and city councillor Colin Weatherall, which was adjourned on October 21 last year.
The Dunedin City Council wants to realign Lovelock Ave to allow the botanic garden more room for the rhododendron dell.
The realignment would also allow relocation of propagation houses and administration buildings, and deal with what were said to be safety issues related to the road.
The plan has proved unpopular with Opoho residents, many of whom attended the hearing.
Cr Weatherall said this week additional concept plans had been requested from the applicant, and the hearing would reconvene in public to consider those.
He expected a decision would be made by the end of March.
