The body was discovered about 1pm on Wednesday off the track near the Scott Memorial car park in Blueskin Rd.
Police believed no-one else was involved in the death of the man, who appeared to be aged about 30, Detective Senior Sergeant Kallum Croudis said.
Inquiries about the man's identity, as well as a scene examination yesterday, had convinced police to no longer treat the death as a homicide.
The body had been removed, but was yet to be formally identified.
The man had still "died violently", but Det Snr Sgt Croudis declined to reveal how.
"The police . . . until we know the facts, always treat them [as suspicious first]."
Police had to treat these cases with the utmost seriousness and care until they were certain they had a different status.
The matter would be referred to the coroner.
