Paid parking areas in central Dunedin are expected to be extended and new meters installed, but the details have yet to be worked out.

The Dunedin City Council is looking into new parking zones, particularly on the fringe of the city centre, councillors were told yesterday.

In the meantime, it appears likely parking changes are coming for Clark St, near the planned new headquarters for the Otago Regional Council, and in Harrow St, near Dunedin’s planned new hospital.

City council regulation management team leader Simon Spiers said Clark St was an area experiencing more demand for parking and businesspeople wanted more turnover of parking there.

It is proposed 85m of unrestricted space in Harrow St, between Anzac Ave and Hanover St, will be converted into 14 paid all-day parks.
