Road spikes finally brought a fleeing driver to a halt after he had led police on a chase from Dunedin to Milton.
A 30-year-old man will appear in the Dunedin District Court on Friday after he failed to stop for police yesterday morning.
A police spokeswoman said the man fled after he failed to stop for police in Fairfield about 4.15am yesterday.
About 20 minutes later road spikes were used to stop the vehicle which had reached Milton about 50km away, the spokeswoman said.
She was unable to provide information about how fast the vehicle was travelling before it was stopped.
