Police are investigating after a stolen car was torched in Dunedin.
The 2000 Toyota Altezza was taken from outside a Larnach Rd property sometime between 3am and 8.30am on Tuesday, Senior Sergeant Craig Dinnissen, of Dunedin, said.
It was found later that day at the Bull Ring, in Flagstaff-Whare Flat Rd, having been ''completely destroyed'' by fire, he said.
In a separate incident, police wanted to speak to a man found ''interfering'' with a car in Great King St in Dunedin on Tuesday.
A car owner had returned to their vehicle to find the man pushing a coat hanger down inside the vehicle's window, Snr Sgt Dinnissen said.
When confronted, the man apologised and said he had thought it was his vehicle.
He had also put a key into the door lock, and told the owner he had wondered why the vehicle would not unlock.
The man then made a phone call and was last seen walking south along Cumberland St.
He was described as a male Caucasian aged between 40 and 50, of average build, wearing a bright orange beanie, long-sleeved jacket and pants.
Police wanted to speak to him or anyone who had seen him.
