Motorists recording high breath-alcohol readings on a Wednesday afternoon have disappointed police.
Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond, of Dunedin, said police set up a checkpoint in Eglinton Rd which gave "disappointing results".
At 3pm on Wednesday, a 51-year-old woman was stopped at the checkpoint. She attempted to make a U-turn but was stopped by police.
The woman returned a breath-alcohol reading of 913mcg.
She was also a disqualified driver, and police impounded her car.
She will appear in court.
About 15 minutes later, a 64-year-old man was stopped at the same checkpoint and was breath-tested,
returning a reading of 600mcg.
Snr Sgt Bond said it was "very disappointing catching people that high over the limit in the mid afternoon".
