A 15-year-old was involved in a police pursuit in Dunedin early today after allegedly stealing a car and burgling a commercial property.
Senior Sergeant Craig Dinnissen said the teenager was seen about 10pm last night outside a Gladstone Rd address, where a Mazda Demio was stolen.
Police allege he burgled the Highgate Dairy, taking the cash register which contained an unknown amount of money.
Rocks were thrown at a window in a fish and chip shop on North Rd, but nothing was taken.
The car was caught on CCTV which enabled police to track the alleged offender down "pretty quick," Snr Sgt Dinnissen said.
Police chased the car along Howe St near the Baa Bar and down Castle St.
Snr Sgt Dinnissen said he did not know how long the pursuit went on for, but the teen was apprehended at 3.59am when the car was driven into a dead end in Castle St.
The driver fled, but was tracked down by police dogs and arrested.
The teen was also linked to the theft of a stolen orange Mazda Demio on Carlaw St overnight on November 30, Snr Sgt Dinnissen said.
He is scheduled to appear in youth court this week.
