Crashes after medical event, driver asleep

A driver who fell asleep had a rude awakening when he hit a parked car in a city suburb, police say.

Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond, of Dunedin, said officers were called to reports of a vehicle hitting a parked car in Corstorphine Rd about 1am today.

A 53-year-old man had possibly fallen asleep while he was driving, Snr Sgt Bond said.

No injuries were reported.

Another crash was reported in Hillside Rd about 1.50pm yesterday.

It appeared a 66-year-old-man hit three parked cars after a suspected medical event.

He was taken to hospital for a check-up, Snr Sgt Bond said.

The extent of damage to the parked vehicles was not known.
