Four people were injured, two seriously, in a three-car crash on State Highway 1 near Waihola today.
The nose-to-tail crash involved five people and occurred around 12.10pm about 1km north of the town.
Two people with serious injuries and two with moderate injuries were taken to Dunedin Hospital, a St John spokesman said.
The crash blocked a lane of traffic for a time but the road has been cleared and traffic is flowing normally.
A police spokeswoman said she did not know whether the wet weather had contributed.
