Event co-ordinator Tammy Jackman said it was decided that a cocktail evening would provide a more "intimate" event, where the public could walk around and touch the jewellery, as well as viewing it.
The cocktail evening will be held from 6pm on Thursday, March 12, at the Dunedin Railway Station.
Dunedin's top established jewellers as well as three jewellers from the Otago Polytechnic School of Art will show new work at the event.
Participating jewellers are: Chris Idour, Chaim Cleavin, Ted Daniels, Tony Williams, Andrew Last, Iain Henderson, David McLeod, Jing Jing Wu, Anne-Mieke Ystma, Zantedeschia Robini, Jane Orr, Ann Cully, Victoria McIntosh, John Z. Robinson, Rainer Beneke, and Lyn Kelly.
The participating students have yet to be selected.
Tickets for the Armstrong Prestige Ornate Jewellery cocktail evening are $35 and will be available from January 30 from the Regent Theatre box office.
