A roar of chatter and the clink of glasses is rising from the tent city in the Octagon, and there will soon be standing room only.
Taxi vans are all full of supporters, mostly dressed in black, heading out towards Carisbrook, while calls of kama te, kama te can be heard echoing out of bars around town.
Groups of people are walking around chanting ``Otaaagooo'', the traditional catch-cry of the region.
Senior sergeant Craig Brown, of Dunedin, said crowds in the city were well behaved last night in an Octagon heaving with revellers and most people seemed to be "pretty happy''.
The sun was still shining at lunchtime and so far it has been a balmy winter's day for Dunedin, with a temperature of 15degC.
Shop windows are adorned with black and white balloons and banners in support of the All Blacks.
Yesterday's mild weather drew crowds into the Octagon before noon, and by 9pm the gathering had swelled to about 2000 within tent city for The Feelers concert.
