A Chinese national has been charged with causing the death of Riley Baker and another charge may yet follow.
Limin Ma (41), of Shanghai, was remanded on bail when his case was called in the Dunedin District Court yesterday.
Ma was initially charged with dangerous driving causing injury after the car he was driving collided with Mr Baker's motorcycle on State Highway 1, near Shag Point, on Saturday.
Mr Baker was taken to Dunedin Hospital in a critical condition and died on Monday morning.
Police confirmed yesterday Ma's charge had been amended and he was now facing one count of careless driving causing death.
''The matter is being reviewed and it is likely another charge will be laid,'' police said.
Ma was granted a registrar's adjournment and will appear in court next Tuesday.
