A movie buff was arrested and charged with theft after he was allegedly spotted taking DVDs from a Dunedin shop yesterday.
The man was in the South Dunedin Warehouse and removed five DVDs from their containers, Senior Sergeant Craig Brown said.
The man would appear in the Dunedin District Court next week on theft-related charges.
• A drunk woman who was offered a ride home by police ended up spending a night in the cells after she allegedly assaulted a police officer.
Police had picked up the 33-year-old woman at 7.30pm on Thursday for detox when the assault allegedly took place. She will appear in Dunedin District Court later this month.
• Police want to talk to the owners of a car who allegedly drove away from the scene of an accident on Thursday night.
The car and another vehicle collided at the corner of Barnes Dr and Caversham Valley Rd just after 9pm and the car was then driven away, Snr Sgt Brown said.
The car was described as a white or light-coloured vehicle, which sustained damage to the front panel or grille.
• Police are also looking for witnesses to an accident on the corner of London and Stuart Sts at 9am on Thursday.
