Central Otago commits $14,835 to hospice

The people of Central Otago showed their support for the Otago Community Hospice by helping raise $14,835 in October.

The hospice's street appeal, held on October 3, helped raise the funds which would benefit people in the area with life-limiting illnesses, chief executive Ginny Green said.

"This was a fantastic result - double the total from last year.

It's an indication that the residents of Central Otago are more aware of their hospice, its services, and are choosing to support it."

The Central team is made up of Dr Pragati Gautama and co-ordinator Irene Norman.

They provide patients with palliative care by assessing their needs and co-ordinating specialist services.

Ms Green thanked the region's Masonic Lodges and volunteers who organised and manned the collection sites.
