Some minor technical issues with Dunedin's new CCTV system have not affected its operation, authorities say.
Dunedin City Council customer services advocate Adrian Blair said problems with cables connecting cameras in the Octagon with large monitoring screens at the Dunedin Central Police Station meant there had been periods since the system started operating on Friday when nothing could be seen on the screens.
However, a small screen was still functional, and footage was still being recorded around the clock and could be viewed if required.
Community Constable Senior Constable Niall Shepherd said he had received no requests for footage from the CCTV and was not aware of any arrests having been made as a result of the CCTV surveillance.
Mr Blair said the cables needed to be reconnected to get the monitoring screens back in action.
