When a macrocarpa tree was felled at the Otago Model Engineering Society's site in St Kilda, the keen carver decided to create a Viking longboat dragon's head.
It took the 63 year old five months, working up to three hours a day at his St Kilda home, to complete the creation. ‘‘It sits in my hallway and scares people. It's my watchdog,'' he said.
