The Ministry of Justice was unable to provide details of the seizures or amount of related fines yesterday.
A spokesman said while police carried out breath tests on drivers and warrant of fitness and registration checks on vehicles, court staff checked records for any unpaid fines.
The joint operations had proved highly successful, with money for outstanding fines being collected on the spot and after operations.
Getting out and being visible reinforced the general message to the community about the need for people to take responsibility for their fines, he said.
