Jae Patterson (12), of Carisbrook School, works on one of a series of raised ecogardens that were installed yesterday.

Jo Stephens, the teacher in charge of the school’s enviro group activities, said yesterday’s ecogarden work had been "absolutely fantastic".

Pupils had helped create the gardens, with support from Bunnings Dunedin. Food of various kinds, including fruit and vegetables, would be grown at the gardens.

Bunnings activities organiser Sheryl Chittock said the firm had provided timber, potting mix and other materials, as well as labour from five staff during a great day with the school.
