Car in flames after crashing into tree at Outram

The serious crash unit is investigating after a car burst into flames when it crashed into a tree at Outram.

A police spokeswoman said officers were called to the crash at the intersection of Granton and Allanton Rds at 2.20am yesterday.

They found a single vehicle had collided with a tree and caught fire.

The serious crash unit was investigating the crash, the spokeswoman said.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said crews from Outram and Lookout Point stations attended, along with tankers from Waihola and Dunedin City.

It appeared the fire had spread to some surrounding vegetation.

A fire investigator was at the scene yesterday.

An ambulance was sent to the scene but was not required.

 

—  Two people were airlifted to Dunedin Hospital in a critical condition after two vehicles collided in Gore’s main street.

A police spokeswoman said officers were called to the collision in Main St (State Highway 1), about 5.40pm on Saturday.

The serious crash unit was notified and inquiries into the crash were being undertaken, the spokeswoman said.

A Fenz spokesman said two people were trapped inside one of the cars and were cut free by the Gore Volunteer Fire Brigade.

A Hato Hone St John spokeswoman said two patients in a critical condition were airlifted to Dunedin Hospital and one patient with minor injuries was treated at the scene, the spokeswoman said.

 

—  One person was taken to Dunedin Hospital with serious injuries after a car went off the road near Ettrick.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said crews attended reports of a single car crash in Ettrick-Raes Junction Rd about 8.10pm on Saturday.
