A car rests on its roof on Dunedin's Southern Motorway yesterday.
Sergeant Phill Hamlin, of Dunedin, said the car, driven by an 18-year-old, crashed into the roadside barrier between the Westland St on-ramp and the Old Brighton Rd off-ramp, near Green Island, about 5.50am.
The man, the sole occupant of the car, had swerved to avoid a dog in the single-vehicle crash.
The man was uninjured and not charged, Sgt Hamlin said.
Both lanes of the motorway were closed for a short time.
