Police are hunting for a man in relation to two cars being smashed with a rock in South Rd on Thursday.
Senior Sergeant Liz Waru, of Dunedin, said police were informed a man was trying to break into a car with a rock about 2pm.
It appeared two cars had been broken into when police arrived but it was unclear whether anything had been taken, she said.
"He ran off towards [the Kensington] Tui Clubrooms,'' Snr Sgt Waru said.
"We have spoken to our informant but if anyone else has any information about who it might be, it would be appreciated.''
The man is described as a Caucasian in his 40s, between 172cm and 177cm tall, of slim build and wearing a cap.
