Eminent academic dies

University of Otago Emeritus Prof Robert Ewan Fordyce has died aged 70.

Prof Fordyce was a distinguished paleontologist and evolutionary biologist known for his contribution to cetology, morphology, taxonomy and systematics.

Prof Fordyce, a research associate at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, has left behind a legacy of ground-breaking research.
