Cactuses taken from garden

Dunedin police are appealing for information over the theft of two large cactuses.

Senior Sergeant Ben Butterfield said the plants were stolen from a house in Highgrove St, in the suburb of St Clair, between Friday and Saturday.

They were both 1.2m high and had been chopped down.

It was not known if the type of cactus was hallucinogenic, but police want to hear from anyone who had been offered the exotic plant.

Meanwhile, a laptop and alcohol was stolen from a locked house in the suburb of Forbury yesterday.

The items were taken from Nicholson St property during the day, Snr Sgt Butterfield said.

Alcohol was stolen from a Castle St flat in Dunedin between 6pm and 9pm last night.
