A hungry burglar with a taste for chicken is targeting the North Dunedin area.
The baffled owners of a Northeast Valley property returned home on Wednesday night to find entry had been forced, and the distinctive aroma of cooked chicken wafting from their Buccleugh St property.
Senior Sergeant Steve Aitken said it appeared nothing had been taken, other than a chicken from the fridge, which "was cooked and eaten".
Police had received several reports of food going missing from North Dunedin properties, and were asking people to advise them of any suspicious sightings.
