Dunedin Venues is predicting another bumper crowd when country music fans gather to see Shania Twain perform at Forsyth Barr Stadium later this year.

Twain, a five-time Grammy winner, will play Auckland’s Spark Arena on December 18 before heading to Dunedin to perform at Forsyth Barr Stadium on December 22, it was announced yesterday.

News of the concerts came just days after more than 15,000 fans flocked to see Roger Waters, a founding member of Pink Floyd, perform at the  stadium on Tuesday night.

Dunedin Venues chief executive Terry Davies said he expected another big crowd for Twain’s concert.

"It’s great to be able to offer a variety of music genres and reach a broad range of music fans.

"We’d be very surprised if we didn’t see a crowd of 15,000 under the roof.

"The reaction ... has been immense. She has a lot of fans out there," he said.

It was also another example of the confidence promoters had in the venue and southern music fans, he said.

Tickets for Twain’s shows will go on sale at noon on Friday, February 9.

Twain has links with Otago, having previously owned Motatapu high-country sheep station near Wanaka.
