Hundreds of people will be out helping clean up the Taieri and Saddle Hill area during Clean Up week next week.
Among those taking part are 200 pupils from Elmgrove School, who plan to clean up the Carlyle and Gordon Rd areas.
East Taieri School's Eco Heroes will clean up the dog park and Cemetery Rd and the Our Seas Our Future group will target coastal areas.
Keep Dunedin Beautiful co-ordinator Darlene Thomson said the response had been great, and individuals had also signed up to tidy Bush and Riccarton Rds and Ocean View beach.
Clean Up ''week'' ran for a fortnight, so finished on the 27th.
People interested in taking part needed to register with Keep Dunedin Beautiful to qualify for specially marked rubbish bags which would be picked up by the Dunedin City Council's rubbish collection from the kerb.
So far, Dunedin-wide, 1000 bags had been delivered and 700 people had registered.
