A police officer was assaulted and a patrol car window smashed during an incident in Dunedin, police say.
Police were called to a Brockville address following reports of a domestic incident about 7.10pm on Tuesday, Senior Sergeant Craig Brown, of Dunedin, said.
Police said a man was involved in the domestic incident.
They said the man, who was ''highly agitated and abusive'', was found later walking down Brockville Rd.
While being arrested, he allegedly kicked a police officer and the rear passenger window of a patrol car.
The vehicle ''had its window kicked out'', Snr Sgt Brown said.
A 23-year-old Timaru man appeared in the Dunedin District Court on Wednesday morning on three charges: resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer, and wilful damage.
He was bailed to appear on January 6.
