The artists who made a small mosaic-tile library in Dunedin looked it over for the first time yesterday.
Artists from Artsenta - a Dunedin art workshop for people who use mental health services - decorated a lilliput library with mosaic tiles and scrabble pieces.
Artsenta art worker Greta Doo said the library was installed at 32 Hargest Cres about a month ago but yesterday was the first time some of the artists saw the library in action.
The Lilliput Libraries project encourages people to take a book and return it, or replace it with another.
Lilliput Libraries were common in Dunedin but Artsenta was the first to decorate one in the city mosaic tiles.
The roof of the library is shaped like an open book and the tile work on the book cover includes Scrabble pieces spelling "reading is magic''.
More scrabble pieces tumble from the open book and hang in mosaic designs on the side of the library, including a tree of knowledge.
Artist Sarah Leeden, of Dunedin, said about 20 artists decorated the library in six weeks.
"It was like a giant puzzle.''
