An artillery blast from a 105mm Pack-Howitzer gun lights up Dunedin Harbour after being fired at Kitchener St last night by Ron Greatorex (left), of Christchurch, while Skin Francis, also of Christchurch, and Doug Boyce (right), of Dunedin, block their ears.

A corp of 25 members from the 31B Battery Gunners gathered to "sniff some cordite" and fire the big gun to commemorate the formation of the Royal Regiment of Artillery on May 26, 1716, Mr Boyce said.
