Arrest made for dairy robbery

A woman has been arrested in relation to the armed robbery of the Elgin Rd Dairy in Dunedin last month.

Police said 21-year-old Dunedin woman Emma Catherine Ranford was arrested in Invercargill yesterday in connection with the January 26 robbery, in which a staff member at the dairy was held up at knifepoint.

The woman appeared in the Invercargill District Court on one charge of armed robbery yesterday.

She was remanded in custody, to appear in the Dunedin District Court on February 11.

No arrest has been made in relation to a second dairy hold-up in the city.

Detective Des Cull, of Dunedin, said police were still seeking information from the public about the armed hold-up of the On the Spot convenience store at the corner of Ashmore St and Taieri Rd on January 23.

In that incident, a gun was pointed at the dairy owner and Kronic - a legal herbal mixture billed as a substitute to marijuana - demanded.
