A 49-year-old man has been arrested and charged with indecently assaulting a 12-year-old girl in Green Island.
Senior Sergeant Craig Brown said the arrest followed an incident on the walkway between Burgess Street and Shand Street yesterday afternoon.
The man will appear in Dunedin District Court tomorrow.
Police would like to speak with a man who found the girl and her 8-year-old male companion after the incident.
He consoled them and left them in the care of staff at a local store, who called the police.
