The side began its build-up for the Bledisloe Cup test on Saturday night with light training yesterday followed by some community engagement last night.

Five players visited the Edgar Centre to teach about 100 young rugby players basic skills of the game.

The children were all winners of Harcourt’s Medals, for players who were not necessarily the best in their team but tried hard all season and were the most committed.

All Blacks Lima Sopoaga, Aaron Smith, Scott Barrett, Vaea Fifita and Ngani Laumape put the aspiring All Blacks through their paces.

Over at Bathgate Park School, All Black backs Nehe Milner-Skudder, Anton Lienert-Brown and Waisake Naholo met about 30 school children from South Dunedin.

The children take part in a Dunedin police programme targeting the children as potential leaders.

The way some of them were stepping round Milner-Skudder they might have a future in the 15-a-side code.

The Wallabies are in camp in Christchurch and will arrive in Dunedin late on Thursday.

• The second Bledisloe Cup test at Forsyth Barr stadium begins at 7.35pm.
