A new cafe inside the Dunedin International Airport is evoking holiday feelings among travellers.
Bach Espresso took over the airport's main cafe in the upstairs waiting lounge recently, offering its own brand of premium coffee.
It opened on September 4 with the staff and manager from the previous business, a Bach Espresso representative said.
''It's about getting back to Kiwiana, that's what the brand is all about,'' she said.
The Auckland-based company, with offices in Wellington and Christchurch, had supplied coffee to the previous airport cafe.
The representative said the Dunedin airport staff received a higher level of training in the upgrade to Bach Espresso's premium blend, roasted in Christchurch.
The change also involved a complete refurbishment of signage, equipment and utensils.
Nationwide there were 33 Bach Espresso cafes, but no others in Dunedin, she said.
Bach Espresso was developed in 2009 through a collaborative effort to craft a New Zealand coffee blend.
In late 2010 the Bach team started creating a brand for the coffee, which has expanded to include cafe equipment, staff clothing and associated items.
The finished product was unveiled in Auckland last year and has been spread throughout the country.
