A flying hay shed caused power to be cut to 36 Middlemarch homes yesterday.
High winds blew the shed through power lines, breaking three poles, Otago Power Services Ltd spokesman Kana Shanmuganathan said.
The power was cut at 6am and restored at 3.20pm.
MetService recorded a 28kmh northwest wind at 6am yesterday morning, spokesman Shane Bidois said.
This was not considered a strong wind. However, there were "some gusty winds around in exposed places".
