Additional flights to bring in rugby fans

Nine extra flights are landing in Dunedin over the next couple of days as rugby fans descend on the city.

Air New Zealand has included the additional flights to Dunedin ahead of tomorrow’s test between the All Blacks and England.

Dunedin Airport marketing and communications executive Sarah Soper said staff at the airport were excited for the upcoming match and the positive impact it would have on the airport and the city.

"Major events bring a wonderful buzz and energy to our airport staff, passengers and residents. We take pride in connecting our beautiful city to the world, especially on such special occasions."

The All Blacks arrived in Dunedin on Tuesday, and will depart, along with England, on Sunday for Auckland.

Many University of Otago students were returning from their mid-year break on Sunday, meaning the airport would be especially busy that day, Ms Soper said.
